GUO Jiemin（郭杰民），美国商务部经济分析局高级研究员，长期从事国民经济核算、投入产出理论与应用以及全球价值链研究。曾任经济合作与发展组织（OECD）统计局季度国民核算负责人、国际投入产出学会（IIOA）副会长、国际民航组织（ICAO）高级顾问。积极参与经合组织、亚太经合组织（APEC）等多项全球价值链国际合作项目。

Jiemin Guo is a Senior Research Economist at the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis, with extensive experience in national accounts, input–output theory and applications, and global value chain research. He previously served as Head of Quarterly National Accounts at the OECD Statistics Directorate, Vice President of the International Input–Output Association (IIOA), and Senior Adviser to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). He has been actively involved in multiple international collaborations on global value chains, including projects with the OECD and the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC).

讲座简介：

This presentation revives Wassily Leontief's 1963 skyline chart—an intuitive input-output visualization of economic self-sufficiency, trade dependencies, and structural shifts—as a key tool for global supply chains (GSCs) and value chains (GVCs), addressing limitations like double-counting in gross measures, single-country assumptions missing interdependencies, and oversight of multinational enterprises (MNEs). Using OECD AMNE inter-country IO tables and trade-in-value-added (TiVA) metrics, we extend the model with ownership disaggregation (domestic vs. foreign affiliates) and dual extensions to final demand and carbon emissions footprints, boosting accuracy by 10-30% across 70+ economies. Applications reveal disparities, such as Costa Rica's FIE-led electronics as low-value GVC hubs and Mexico's MNE export dominance in manufacturing; consumption flips expose demand offloads, and emissions highlight China-US asymmetries. Integrated into IDE-JETRO's GVC Visualization Database v3.0, this Leontief revival delivers dynamic visuals for policy resilience, sustainability, and equitable chain integration, paving the way for future re-evaluation of the 1953 Leontief Paradox—his seminal challenge to trade theory via IO empirics—by fusing it with skyline visuals 

to probe modern factor intensities in fragmented GVCs.
